The process of painting is an exploration of my emotional response to nature. Whether I am painting outside in a vast landscape or a quiet still life in my studio, my work is an expression of my feelings of wonder, mystery, nostalgia, and self-reflection, that are conveyed to me through careful looking and connecting with a subject. Working from life, I strive to capture these senses as they occur within me, in a moment of solitude and engagement. Through expression of light and atmosphere, my goal is to poetically convey the beauty I feel, from the grandeur of nature to the humble simplicity of daily life.
